Who are the women of WLP?

These are the varied experiences and surprising moments of learning from some of the student’s most lasting memories of their freshman year. Alumni go on to successful careers both within and outside of the arts and humanities, and their first-year immersion in the arts and humanities continues to shape their subsequent experiences through the relationships they establish and the ideas and creative forms they explore.

Women in Science, Health and Medicine

Nina Harkhani, 2008 Cohort

“The Women's Leadership Program was one of the best opportunities I was able to take advantage of my freshman year.  From classes, symposiums, professors, and my GTA, I was able to find direction for my academic career.  The community of the WLP in Somers also provided a strong sense of family and to this day, many of my good friends are the ones I made through the Women's Leadership Program my freshman year.”

Joy Kim, 2008 Cohort

“WLP was a challenging program in that you had to commit lot of your time into it. Through the program you learn to take initiatives and develop your leadership skills. At the end of the year we have to formulate our very own project and apply it to the GWU community and beyond, which sounds like lot of work but is really fun and worth the hard work.”
