Congratulations to Alison Devenny Hetherington on her recent marriage!!

"Alison Devenny, WLP Class of 2003 Arts & Culture and Kells Hetherington were married on June 10, 2017 in Washington D.C. Alison Devenny Hetherington is a director of Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance. Kells Hetherington is an independent trader and financial analyst. They now reside in Jacksonville, Florida."

 

This summer, I interned with the Tandana Foundation teaching English, Science and Music in the small indigenous community of Panecillo, Ecuador. I lived in a host family and had an incredible experience.

 I am now at the Latino Economic Development Center here in DC working in business development and IT.

Internships: Sanivation in Naivasha, Kenya (turned feces into charcoal for cooking and boilers)

Fellowship: TAMID Summer Fellowship in Tel Aviv, Israel. I worked for Keheala, which works on improving medication adherence for TB patients. They actually just received a $600,000 grant from USAID.

Job experiences: 

1. Had my international internship with BDO (Top accounting firm) this past summer and worked on IPO account management on an external auditing team. 

2. Owned an online E-bay business.

3. I am currently working as a promotion coordinator for J&L Marketing.

4. Interned at 2 start-up companies as strategic market researcher in high school.

5. Went on a pre-business trip in Costa Rica and created a marketing brochure for a rural coffee company.

I work at the Key Depot so current WLPers can occasionally find me in the lobby of Somers. This past summer I interned for an engineering company back in my hometown of Denver. I hope to study abroad in Costa Rica and Chile next year!

I interned at Mil Mujeres legal firm last spring, Comcast in Government Affairs over the summer, and this semester am working at Revolution Messaging PR firm.

Studying International Affairs with concentrations in security policy and international politics and a minor in History

I am currently studying abroad in Freiburg, Germany, with a program based on the European Union.

For fall 2017- spring 2018 I will be interning through the Virtual Student Federal Service with the US Dept of State's Foreign Service Institute School of Language Studies, helping Foreign Service Officers to learn the language and culture of Denmark before they go abroad.
