Dr. Sein Win

On the last day of our Women’s Leadership Program humanities class, we students were given the opportunity to meet with Dr. Sein Win, a former politician from Burma. Although Dr. Sein Win spoke with a soft voice and had a calming demeanor, the stories he told and the food be brought were anything but bland. It was interesting to hear him speak of escaping the military dictatorship, his journey to New York City, and his descriptions of how American politicians at the time handled the humanitarian crisis in Burma. Talking to Dr. Sein Win while eating authentic Burmese food cooked by his wife made the stories he told all the more real and vibrant, giving us a first-hand glance into his exciting yet tragic experiences.
