Mission Statement

Welcome to the beautiful Mount Vernon Campus! The Mount Vernon National Advisory Council (MVNAC) representing alumnae of Mount Vernon Seminary and College, promotes the legacy of Elizabeth J. Somers, founder of Mount Vernon Seminary and College (1868-1999) on the GW Mount Vernon Campus, embracing her motto: vincit qui se vincit, “She who conquers self, conquers all.” Elizabeth J. Somers’ legacy of excellence in educating women lives on through GW’s Women’s Leadership Program, housed here on the Mount Vernon Campus.
