A still from her documentary

This past semester, I continued my internship with Persistent Productions with the support of the Humphries Scholarship. Over the summer, I finished my short documentary “Between the Lines: Liz at Large” on New Yorker cartoonist Liz Montague. In the fall, Liz spoke at a WLP symposium with Washington Post cartoonist Ann Telnaes. It was wonderful to attend the event and listen to the dialogue between WLP students and the groundbreaking cartoonists.

I used the scholarship funding to apply to thirty film festivals across the world. I worked with my internship supervisor, WLP alumnae and founder of Persistent Productions, Meghan Shea to market and enter my film. I am honored to have been selected for the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmakers Showcase at Cannes Film Festival and the United Nations' Through Women's Eyes Film Festival. I am very excited to go to Cannes, France, as I have never been out of the country before! The festival is scheduled for mid-May but may be postponed to July due to COVID-19.

I will likely hear back from the rest of the festivals in early 2021. I am very excited for what is to come and am so grateful to the Humphries Scholarship. They have funded this entire project, over the span of two semesters. I have learned so much from my internship supervisor and Persistent Productions.
